Iberostar extends COVID-19 insurance to Cuba hotels

PALMA DE MALLORCA — Iberostar is extending its complimentary assurance package to its hotels in Cuba, two months after launching it in Mexico, Jamaica, the D.R. and Brazil.

In addition to Cuba, ‘Travel at Ease’ will also be rolled out across properties in Europe and North Africa. In all destinations, the package applies to stays until August 2021,  for all reservations including those made through trusted partners such as tour operators, travel agencies and other distribution channels.

‘Travel at Ease’, developed with the support of a Medical Advisory Council, comprises a range of complimentary services to assist guests in the unlikely event that their vacations are disrupted due to COVID-19 symptoms. These services include COVID-19 tests should a guest exhibit symptoms, extension of stay at no cost for those who test positive and their families, as well as isolation rooms with all necessary amenities. In addition, the package includes constant medical monitoring, contactless room service and free in-room entertainment, games and activities including Star Camp activity packs for children.

In case of early departure, guests will receive a full refund for the days not used.

“We continue to move forward in caring for our guests and partners by offering increasingly more responsible and care-free experiences,” said Finn Ackermann, global commercial director of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts. “After the presentation of ExtraCare, a travel insurance with medical coverage exclusively for reservations through our own channels such as our website or the direct sales platform for travel agencies (Iberostar PRO), we are now happy to announce the global launch of Travel at Ease, which offers our partners extra peace of mind.”

Iberostar Group continues to work towards resuming operations in Cuba, where five of its hotels have reopened. Its return to operations started in Varadero with Iberostar Selection Varadero, Iberostar Selection Bella Vista Varadero, Iberostar Tainos, and in Cayo Guillermo with Iberostar Daiquiri. Most recently, the company reopened its first hotel in Havana, Iberostar Parque Central, with hopefully more to follow in the coming months.
