More salespeople ≠ More sales. In a demand-poor environment, hiring more sales reps can dilute your efforts and lower conversion rates because you won’t generate opportunities from the top funnel but the middle funnel (people already engaged). ✅ Instead, focus on creating demand and training your sales. Lets stop with the outbound is dead narrative now! 💀 Its boring! Lets just all agree that outbound is changing! But you can still win through traditional techniques ( Will Falkenborg 🌭 still cleaning up on cold calling as an example) We do outbound at Sendspark but its only "warm outbound" and it works great! ⬇ Here are some signals we use to initiate an outbound message: Relevant LinkedIn posts: If someone expresses interest in video or mentions a competitor, we send a targeted message. Internal product triggers: For instance, if multiple team members use Sendspark, we’ll contact the VP to discuss a wider rollout. Website visits: Using Warmly, we identify and connect with visitors to our website. These strategies ensure our outreach is always targeted and relevant. ^ Funny, its probably the way people should have always done outbound 😂 ! Few examples: - Is this [first name]? - Are you the decision maker? - Can you tell me about your role? - Does [company name] ring a bell? - When are you free to meet? - Do you have budget? They're the biggest reason sellers fail on the phone. With every question your prospects trust silently disappears. And no trust = no meeting. ❌ Stop qualifying. ✅ Start trust building. He’s breaking records with his cold-calling skills. Last year: - He set a new all-time record for HG Insights' SDR team with 403% and 77 outbound meetings booked. - In September, he trended at 530% of quota with 80 meetings booked. - He spent hours on account research and averaged 160 dials/day. William shared his secrets in an interview on the Outbound Kitchen podcast. He talked about transitioning from a multithreaded approach to focusing only on cold calling. This shift boosted his quota attainment from 83% to 530%. He also shared strategies for structuring cold calls, preparing for sessions, and using analogies to handle objections. Yesterday our SDR Will Falkenborg 🌭 was called out on LinkedIn (and Twitter!) by a sales leader for changing diapers throughout the workday. He said this was unacceptable and helping install "brainworms" in young salespeople. As the guy who hired Will and pays his salary, I have to weigh in. Will is EXACTLY what a top 1% SDR looks like in 2024. We couldn't be more proud to have him at Champify. Why? Because the best SDRs of today and the near future need to be extremely skilled in one of three areas (bonus points for more): 1. Amazing on the phones 2. High output content producer of high value material for their target audience 3. Ops and/or AI wizard that can do the work of 5x SDRs a few years ago And Will crushes it in two of these three areas: 1. Top 1% skills on the phone paired with an extremely high motor and low ego 2. Growing following with our buyers and future buyers in an authentic way He does this all while while: - Consistent 130%+ monthly attainment with quality opps - Consuming more sales calls than anyone in our company - Constantly developing skills to become an AE in the future - Always dogfooding our product - Helping his wife care for two young children As a sales leader, it's your job to find the strengths of your employees and double down on them. Not chain them to their desk from 9-5. Not force them into a box because that's the way YOU did it. Let them operate within the confines of their stage of life. Set up the right comp structure to allow them to earn and support their family and choose how often they want to work once they exceed their responsibilities. Let them do whatever they want while they are hitting goals and being a team – regardless if it’s changing diapers, playing with their child, working out, or learning a new skill. It isn't 2015, anymore. The world has changed. Will's numbers speak for themselves.

Want to hit your quota off cold emails instead of cold calls? Then make your emails stand out: 1. Start your email with: “Hi” “Hello” or “Hey”  2. Make it short! Can you read it in under 15 seconds? 3. Make an insightful observation (reference an issue or pain point they have) 4. Build credibility (ideally relevant name drop) 5. Write at a 5th-6th grade level 6. Don’t include links in the first email 7. One question max   8. Use “P.S.” to get more replies Here’s an example if you’re selling a marketing lead gen service:

What we think is the 🔑 for reps unlocking millions in pipeline: “All I need is just 1 high intent signal” What you actually need: Well-defined TAM and ICP Strong account strategy on the account  Strong messaging and templates for outreach Reps who can work across channels  Social selling skills  Multithreading Sales enablement on how to do deep discovery Tools to help reps prioritize  Building unique signals for your business (don’t rely on what’s out of the box or popular) Reminder that silver bullets don’t exist. Building a great GTM engine is hard work. And most importantly pipeline is a team sport - need the entire GTM team (and if you’re small enough the whole company) to get onboard and help.
