Cologne Summer School an der Tongji University in Shanghai

Back to Shanghai after three years

For 14 years, students from the University of Cologne and other North Rhine-Westphalia universities have been taking their curiosity about China and their desire to learn Chinese to Shanghai. In this most prosperous city of China, they were able to learn Chinese language, lifestyle as well as the culture.

Every year in August since 2007, the International Offfice of University of Cologne had organised the three-week summer schoo in this modern metropolis. On the campus of Tongji University, the Chinese university with the strongest ties to Germany, students learned about the origins of Chinese, one of the world's oldest languages. After class they went to the marketplace to get a closer look at the folks' life. And they also visited international companies to learn about their growth in China during the country's golden 40 years of economic development.
