Bislang verzeichnet Großbritannien über 127.000 Todesfälle im Zusammenhang mit einer Corona-Infektion. Darüber hinaus wurden mittlerweile rund 20 Millionen Briten aber auch vollständig gegen eine Covid-19-Infektion geimpft. Genau 1313 Personen sind aktuell in Großbritannien an der Doppel-Mutation B1617 erkrankt, so Gesundheitsbehörden. Betroffen seien vor allem die nordenglischen Städte Bolton und Blackburn. Hancock warnte aber davor, dass das Land ein Problem bekommen würde, wenn es sich herausstellen sollte, dass die indische Mutation B1617 50 Prozent übertragbarer sei, als die bisherigen Corona-Varianten.
