My father doesn't give himself enough credit. As a young adult that can barely remember how to spell her name correctly- my father shows a much greater strength in accurate factual representation. The many years put into the collection of such documents, and the book overall, will pass down through generations; giving the long list of future Gerk descendants something to look back upon, that will not fade in time or death.

A book that took 32 years to finish? Well, I wrote it...and it took that long to research, write it and read it. It is my own humble gift to my family, wherever the world has taken members of the Gerk family. But it is primarily a book of remembrance. To those brave souls who took their families to frightening and strange new lands...all in the hopes of finding a better place.
