What is the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program about?

At AustrianStartups it is our goal to unlock innovative entrepreneurship in Austria. With the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program, we aim to do exactly that. The ELP is a two-semester immersive program that is designed to equip ambitious & entrepreneurial individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge & network to become founders or work in the Austrian startup ecosystem.

 

What can you expect from us?

  • Hands-on workshops that help you get ideas off the ground
    From recognizing opportunities and developing impactful ideas, to building quick prototypes and creating visually appealing designs - we empower you to make the first steps on your own & prepare you for the challenges of the future. 
  • Insightful discussions about tech & the future
    Being an entrepreneur involves responsibility and requires thought leadership. In our monthly discussion groups we bring you together with experts & opinion leaders from different areas in technology and the startup world to discuss where our world is heading and how entrepreneurs can make an impact.
  • Practical experience & community engagement through volunteering
    If you join the ELP you will become part of one of the AustrianStartups teams. This gives you the opportunity to get in touch with the Austrian startup ecosystem and enhance your skillset through working on impactful projects. In the past, projects have included compiling a guide on how to start a startup, organising community events, setting up new communication campaigns and developing policy recommendations.
  • Ongoing Mentoring & access to the Austrian startup ecosystem
    Throughout your educational journey, we will provide you with buddies and mentors that introduce you to AustrianStartups & the ecosystem, support your personal development and help you with building up a network.
  • A reference for your CV
    If you follow the course over a total duration of one year, we will award you a certificate of participation.
  • A lot of fun
    Connecting bright and driven people is one of the integral parts of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program. That is why we make sure that next to working hard we also have an awesome time together. Once per semester we also go on a legendary team trip - you definitely don't want to miss out on that.

What do we expect from you?

  • Active participation in our weekly workshops & discussion sessions - every Thursday from 6-9pm
  • Ideally availability to join our kickoff weekend from 9th to 11th of October
  • Commitment to invest 5-10 hours per week as a volunteer
  • Passion for entrepreneurship
  • Ambition to have a positive impact on society

FAQ

  • Does this program involve any costs?
    No, it is totally free to participate.
  • Where will the meetings take place?
    Some of our weekly meetings will take place in different locations around Vienna, some of them will be online. In case the current situation with regards to COVID-19 changes, the whole program might be moved to online. Once per semester we go on a weekend trip to another state in Austria.
  • Do I need to have a business idea to be able to join?
    No, you don't need to have a business idea to be part of our program.
  • Do I need to be a student to apply? Is there an age limit?
    No, you don't need to be a student and there is no age limit.
  • I don't have time on Thursday evenings. Can I still join?
    Unfortunately not - the workshops and the discussion groups always take part on Thursday evening. As they are the main part of our curriculum it is not possible to complete the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program without attending these sessions. However, if you are interested in getting involved with AustrianStartups or would like to join us as a volunteer, feel free to contact us or come to our monthly Stammtisch events.
  • I am going abroad in the second half of the year. Can I continue with the second part of the program afterwards?
    In general yes. You might not get that much out of the workshops in the second part then though. 
  • Do I need to have a business background?
    No, definitely not - we encourage people from all different backgrounds to apply.
