Conference Description
The Human Genetics and Genomics GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
The challenge facing the next era of human genetics research is to fully understand the vast amounts of genomic data that have been gathered over the recent decade and to apply this data to functionally annotate the genome with contributions to human biology and disease. This information is required to strengthen our understanding of both Mendelian and complex genetic disorders. Meeting such a challenge will require a nuanced approach to studying gene function and regulation, discovering how variants of variable effect size impact human physiology, and translating this knowledge into therapeutic targets and improved patient care. This Seminar will highlight innovative computational and experimental approaches to deciphering the effect of human variation on biology and disease, and how we might leverage these findings into improved therapeutics and patient care.
