The Secretary-General met on Tuesday 21 June 2016 with Christophe Deloire, Secretary-General of Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
The Secretary-General commended RSF for its courageous and vital work to protect press freedom and freedom of speech.
He shared the concern expressed by Mr. Deloire regarding increased threats, attacks and arrests of journalists around the world who were just doing their job.
In this regard, the Secretary-General learned with great concern about the arrest yesterday in Turkey of Erol Önderoglu, the RSF representative in that country. He expressed the hope that he would be quickly released.
